I’m sure everyone has heard the stereotype that college kids eat terribly and live off of junk food. You’ll be hard pressed to find a kitchen in student housing without instant ramen in the cupboard. Whether this stereotype was born from lack of money, or lack of knowledge of how to cook, Cooking Club has got you covered! The club was brought back this semester by Megan Choy. Megan noticed that since she was always on campus, she didn’t have time to cook at home. The solution? Revive Cooking Club and cook amazing dishes that won’t break the bank right here on campus.
If you love to cook, have no idea how to cook but want to learn, or don't have time to cook for yourself at home, the folks in Cooking Club are happy to welcome you aboard. Cooking is a great life skill (you can’t eat takeout forever), and it can help reduce stress. “My favorite part about cooking is trying new things and sharing different foods from different background,” says Megan.
So far, the club has made two delicious and affordable pasta dishes, mac and cheese and spaghetti, but there’s a lot more in store. Cooking Club is always coming up with ideas for what to make in the future, so if anyone has anything they're interested in making, stop by and join in on the fun!
If you're interested in cooking, grab a spoon and join Megan and the rest of Cooking Club in room 120 on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:00 PM.
