Fall might be known as the time of pumpkin spice, costumes, and layering, but it also marks the beginning of a school year full of possibilities. Whether you are looking to make new friends, or rekindle old ones, joining a club would be the perfect opportunity for you to do so! With so many to choose from, where do you start?
Cogsworks Animation Club is back after a summer hiatus, with a lot in store this semester. Since 2012, they have had strong leadership. Each member dedicated to teaching aspiring animators the basic techniques of animation. This will, in turn, not only help them in their classes, but also in their future careers.
Aside from teaching the basics of a character turnaround, which they have already accomplished, the club plans to teach students how to utilize character expressions, reference sheets, and more throughout the rest of the semester. The tutorials they planned, all have to do with traditional animation. There is also the 24 Hour Animation Jam to look forward to this fall! By the end of the semester, their goal is to have taught everyone who attended, to understand the basics of traditional animation so they can use those techniques and animate on other platforms.
Alex Kinner, Secretary of Cogsworks Animation Club, says that her favorite thing about Cogsworks is just how fun it is. “Everyone gets to meet people who love the same things that they love and learn something new,” she says. “I just love the friendly environment and the friendly people that come to the club.” With twelve current members, Cogsworks is enthusiastic to welcome new-comers. Alex suggests that interested students should stop by and sit in on a meeting. “They’re really interesting and fun!”
Cogsworks Animation meets in room 155 on Fridays from 5-7 PM.
