On Saturday, February 17th, Cogswell ASB hosted an excellent 90’s Night. The Dragon’s Den was decked out in 90’s themed decorations, candy, and food. Tables were scattered with Pokémon cards and board games, and any guests who dressed up for the occasion were rewarded with an extra ticket for the raffle at the end of the dance.Throughout the evening attendees enjoyed snacks like Koolaid, Potato Stix, and pizza bagels while dancing to all the hit tunes from the 90’s.
Right from the beginning, partygoers were playing Twister, Trouble, and Pokémon Puzzle League on the Nintendo 64. The energy was high, and everyone spent a few minutes just taking in all the sights that reminded them of their childhood. There was a photo room set up by The Cogswell Collective like a 90’s basement so attendees could really capture themselves in the past on a big couch with a Sony PlayStation 1, cute plushies, and a stack of old movies in VHS tapes. All night, guests were alternating between the delicious snacks, crazy dancing, and the fun games that made everyone nostalgic. Party guest and Cogswell student Brandon Weekley said, “It is lively, amazing, and everyone is friendly.” The atmosphere was definitely true to the decade.
At the end of the night, many 90’s themed prizes were raffled off. Many lucky guests went home with prizes like a Sailor Moon manga set, a 90’s cartoon-themed backpack, and a set of Teck Decks. The number of attendees wasn’t very high, but everyone is looking forward to seeing more events like this in the future. Luckily, 90’s Night will probably not be the only spectacular event Cogswell ASB has planned for this semester, and no doubt upcoming events will be just as fun as the 90’s Night, if not more so!
